ABSTRACT
Tissue defects resulting from the oncological
treatment of tumors in the middle part of the face
often lead to the connection of the oral cavity with
the respiratory tract. Chewing and swallowing
problems as well as speech disorders are the most
serious consequences of surgery, which have a
negative impact on the quality of life of patients.
In many cases , the use of obturator protheses can
be an effective method of rehabilitation. However,
obturators extend beyond the boundaries of the
mouth. By interfering with the nasal cavity and
maxillary sinuses, they affect the functions of the
entire respiratory system, which should be taken
into account when planning and implementing
prosthetic treatment.
