ABSTRACT
The reconstruction of endodontically treated teeth presents a challenge in everyday dental practice. During endodontic treatment, there is a significant loss of hard tooth tissues, which compromises its biomechanical properties. One possible type of restoration is indirect restorations, such as endocrowns. Qualifying a tooth for reconstruction with an endocrown requires a detailed analysis of indications and contraindications, as with any prosthetic restoration. Preparation for this type of prosthetic restoration is faster, less complicated, and most importantly, less invasive than conventional procedures that involve creating a post and core and a crown, which results in substantial loss of hard tooth tissues. We have a wide range of materials available for making endocrowns, each suitable for slightly different clinical situations. When choosing the primary material, we consider its mechanical properties and aesthetics. Cementing endocrowns is a procedure primarily involving adhesive techniques using conventional or self-adhesive composite cements. The following article takes a closer look at the current position on the qualification, preparation, material selection and cementation of endocrowns based on the current scientific literature, using the Scopus and PubMed databases, using the key words: endocrown, indirect restoration, reconstruction after endodontic treatment.
